Bellying up to the Bar

There was a swim up bar at the resort. Sophia wanted a Shirley Temple, so Colin found himself bellying up to the bar with two children in tow.

All about Keenan

Up until this trip, any time we put Keenan in the pool he would shiver and generally seem like he would rather be somewhere else. Perhaps his recent prolonged time in the snow inspired him to be more enthusiastic about the splashing around. It was so nice to see him enjoy himself.

All about Sophia.............

Sophia absolutely loved spending time on the beach and perhaps because of this, she happily smiled for the camera, a lot.

And posed a little too..........

Cabin Fever Reliever

Packing and trying out the back packs........

She's out of here!

Trying on some warm weather clothes while playing air hockey............

This past Sunday, Colin returned from a trip and I sprung this on him: "How about a little trip to Cancun?" I had gotten an e-mail offering a great rate for airline employees to an all inclusive resort in Cancun and the idea of warmth and sun had just kind of taken hold of me. To his credit, he didn't miss a beat before saying "if you want" which, considering he would have rather been home, was pretty amiable. But I think he considered the sub zero readings on the mercury and the fact that Sophia, Keenan and I were all getting a touch of cabin fever and was willing to sacrifice for a little time in the sun.

24 hours later, we were on a plane heading to Cancun. Suffice to say, the trip didn't start all that well. Keenan screamed at the top of his lungs for 2 hours of the 3.5 hour flight and the first room they gave us had ceramic tile and unprotected stairs. Anyone who know Keenan knows why this is a bad combination.

Anyway, the trip turned around by the second day. More on that and more photos in a coming posts.

Keenan's Backpack

Keenan was so besotted with Sophia's backpack (and a tad envious) that we decided he should have one too........It hasn't been easy to convince him to take it off.

Pilot Cuties

Of course, anything that pertains to Daddy is of great interest to these two. They love putting on his hat when he gets home from a trip, but they sure don't get too excited when they see him put it on to leave for one.

Chef Sophia

Sophia loves to help, period. But she especially loves to help in the kitchen. Snapping beans is one of her favorite contributions and I don't even have to supervise anymore. She even accurately decides which ones need to be broken in half, and which ones need no further attention. I can't believe my luck, I cook decently enough but I don't exactly relish my time behind the stove. Now I have a part time assistant!
